No PIP, no negative feedback received, no performance improvement plan. I was fired out of the blue on vacation on a 3 minute video call for “performance” reason. Don’t be loyal to any company. As soon as you get a better opportunity, LEAVE.

Feel free to name the company and part of the firm that did this so others are aware. Also these places care about stuff like glassdoor so have at it there

KPMG did this to me after I got a bad review from a toxic manager who had multiple HR complaints against him over the years. He worked me 16-18 hours a day and blamed me for everything that went wrong even though he was awful at reviewing and just being a decent manager.

I brought this up with my performance manager proactively… and next thing you know my schedule was being cleared up. Suddenly all my other teams where I did well had “budget issues”.

No PIP or nothing. Just a “we’re over headcount” message. I was on a visa and just got dumped in the middle of a pandemic with severe restrictions on new work visas.

I can not seem to get over how shitty that was.

@K4 trust me I felt the same way before this happened when I heard such stories. Lost confidence in myself too. Now at a consulting firm and doing better than ever. My abilities didn’t magically change.

Yep. I learned to be mercenary about work early on just like this. Companies used to be loyal to employees and vice versa. Circa 2008, they broke the pact, but some of us are still learning it the hard way. A wise man told me once “you must always have irons in the fire”

Started then, but got much worse in 2008

Check if firing over video is appropriate as someone suggested and sue the company

Please remember this is not a reflection of you or your capabilities. You'll continue to do great things

Good luck, you'll figure this out

Only Naive are loyal. It does not mean to be disloyal but it’s a professional world. They don’t think of your personal situation or mental impact when they fire.

Hey Guys. Regarding the forced layoffs in PS. It’s high time we unite and hit them back. I’ll request all people who’ll receive the video connect email from PS to do one important thing. Use a a pen camera or a hidden camera(small) in your pocket before attending the call and record the call and events. These peoples should not be spared. Try to get some evidence and let’s expose to public media and other legal teams. You can do this anonymously thereby saving others from this crap.

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?

Hello, I recently was reached out to by an in-house recruiter at a similar but slightly different company than the one I currently work for. The recruiter provided a base range and an OTE range. The lower end of that range is what I am currently making. The higher end of that range is almost 200k more than my current comp. The role is almost identical. I wasn’t looking to move, but that higher end range would set my family up very nicely for our goals. But I am happy at my current company. Help?

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
