What's your routine like before "coming to work"? Consider showering, shaving, dressing up, even putting on a tie if it helps, then walking around the house as if you were walking to the office, then coming into your home office brew yourself a cup of coffee and get started. As for your bosses, start the day by sending them a concise but effective list of questions with simple answers -- "do you want me to (A) do X, or (B) do Y? From my perspective doing X sounds like the better approach but I'll defer to you on that"
From what I've heard PE depends on you being proactive with your tasks. One of my friends is the only associate in NY and her bosses travel very frequently for work, so it's usually just her in the office.
That’s helpful, I should have more of a routine before I hit my desk. And I try to be proactive but I spin my wheels a lot given that I’m still very new to this world..
Do you really think ESG is the future
Working at home can be tough... having a routine is good like the other ppster said. Its also good to stop st a cerydin time otherwise you could easily not leave your computer! But my bf works in PE and he said its crotical to be in the office so you can network with the others. Plus there is no substitution for face time so i wpuld suggest gewting there once a month ot so since you are new so you can learn from others. Its so
Importamt. I would pay for the hotel myself if they dont cover it. Its that important. When i got my job at acenture they literally gave me a computer and sent me home and i had no idea what inwas doing as i came from corporate. It was awful. Not working with my peers completely affected my performance and it would have been invaluable to actually work on a project with my peers so i could learn the ropes. Best of luck!!
I agree with the above - when you work from home you need to have a routine. I WFH for many years and there are three things I can say: always be at your desk by the same time everyday. Always schedule a walk midday, just 15 minutes is fine but you need to get the blood flowing. When you’re done for the day, turn the computer off. I turned a closet into my office and at the end of the day I closed the door. Separation is essential.
