Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Why is LEK a sweatshop? Do they output more, are they faster, have less people per case? Would really love to know why
Combination I think - MDs seem to have a hard time saying no which adds work, we explicitly tell clients that our heritage is in DD work so we work quick, and because we need to compete on price, we staff leaner teams
I must have it good then. I average 50-55 over the year. Most weeks are 47-52 with the odd 60-70 just before go-live. All remote so even at 55-60 it’s very manageable and still allows for a good WLB.

same - been that way for about 2 years. it is tiring but far more sustainable than 60.
Every firm more or less has the same hours in consulting, averaging 55-60 hours.
Yeah 75+ hours is insane. I’ve been around 4 years and done that maybe twice.

Come to the fed side, 40-50 is the norm.
Comp won't be what you'll get at MBB/T2, but your actual earnings per hour will be in the ballpark, plus, you know, you actually get to have free time.
Any advice on making the switch?

Probably average 50-55 hours if we include both the ebbs (85+) and flows (<40) within projects and/or the bench
I have been working 65-70 hour weeks for over a month and am not sure how much longer I can handle it. It never really gets below 50, but those extra 15 are really tough.

40-50 but not representative of all of S& - i’m definitely on the lower side. but people around me don’t appear to be averaging over 55 hours of true desk time.
Probably 50-60 hours per week. Might be more close to a go-live (I’m in implementations). The bright side is I don’t have to ask anyone for permission to log off for the night.
Most of consulting averages around 55 (with spikes and dips).
My time at MBB, I averaged 65 per week.
LEK is a sweatshop.
It’s pretty tough in general I would say
60-70+ is common here. Good projects are 50-60
Come to internal consulting in industry. Pace is much slower and you’re dealing with internal clients so much less drama. Depending on project, work 20-50 hours. Breath of fresh air when everyone’s on the same team.
Would love it, but not seeing too many openings in my field
