It weird that you keep saying “assigned” work. You don’t just do what people tell you to do. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I am an entry level analyst working on a long term engagement in a sort of staff aug capacity, not really sure what work I can provide on my own, so instead of being condescending maybe give me some suggestions!
What companies and roles are these? People might be interested in applying. Wlb may be worth it for some people.

I’ve heard folks in my role working 60+ hours a week, so I would say it is HIGHLY variable.
As someone who successfully managed to sit on the bench for 6 months (twice), take advantage of any and all employee development opportunities (trainings, professional speaking series, etc.). Email/IM interesting folks around the organization and offer to help, or just ask if you can speak to them to learn more about their work and/or learn about the firm (they’ll generally respond, as most folks like helping new hires).
Use this opportunity to leverage the resources of the firm (and publicly available resources) to learn and grow in preparation for the unknown opportunities that lie ahead.
Consulting is an “ebb and flow” business. If you’re getting paid to do nothing more than develop yourself, trust me, you’re winning. Eventually you’ll land on that hellish project that saps all of your energy/time and look back at this time with envy 😅
Happens to me often. I just study for certifications. Got 3 so far, moving on to 4th. Getting paid to study!!
Unfortunately I know nothing of the marketing industry. All my certifications are for IT and development.
I feel you. I’ve been here 3 months and feel the same. Stated looking for new roles but all to friends wonder why I don’t just take the paycheck and sit there bored
Yeah this is a hard time period of recent college grads. There is a range of good career managers who actively engage and foster that growth and there are some that aren’t as proactive. Just ask that you have some empathy to the career managers as well as some of them are also in new territory (educating kids at home, balancing day care). It’s tough all around and it’s safe to assume that no one is on their “A” game.
