On my tax return, I see the federal and state taxes paid, but I do not see the social security or medicare tax paid. Are those taxes lumped into the federal tax or just not listed on one's tax return?

They don't appear on the 1040. They're just withheld from your paycheck and reported on your W-2. If your income exceeds a certain amount then the additional Medicare tax is calculated on form 8959.

like

Those are not part of your federal or state income taxes. If you are an employee (paid on a w2) they won’t be on the return.

like

Those are payroll taxes not income taxes.

like

No they aren’t you gave to submit separate checks

This can’t be a serious question…

Dont be rude. Ask any audit teams in your office, I bet less than 50% understand their taxes

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!

For those watching their home value - which is best? Zillow or Redfin? I’m watching mine to see what equity I have to refi and potentially get PMI removed. Zillow is current showing home value at about 20K less than Redfin. Are there any other tools I could be using? Thanks.

Hey all newbie here. My husband and I are living that Double Income No Kid life wanting to (Financial Independence) Retire Early.

Both in tech in the Bay Area. I’m in Arizona visiting family and am thinking of an investment property. Does anyone have a book/course/video that they personally have used and recommend for flipping houses? I want to do some research there’s a lot of content out there.
Thanks a bunch!

General Question I started tuition reimbursement last year in August. I since have an interview with another job that is paying a lot more. You know how you apply to something not really thinking that job would call back? Should I get an offer, what do I do about tuition Reimbursement? Do they send a check and tell me to pay it? Do they take it out of my 401k? I know a lot of people will say I never shouldve applied but I didn't think too much about actually get a call back when I applied.

Do you pay your credit cards in full every month?

I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

First in my family to go to college, parent is abusive so I have no safety net & had no help. Worked full time all through college & still graduated with 30k in debt. I’ve been paying really aggressively on my private loans since the federal pause and I checked today and I now only owe 2800 in private. Pretty sure I owe 11k in fed & I qualify for the 10k. Honestly trying not to cry from sheer relief.

Hi fishes,

Today I got an email from TCS to complete an ibegin registration. Whenever I login, it is asking me to enter PAN details and mail ID. If I give, it is giving a warning that my account is already present in ibegin and telling me to login with another email ID. As if I remember, one of the consultancy, used my PAN to register in ibegin but I’m unable to login since it is registered by their mail ID and my PAN.
