Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

Business Banking within retail - be a top performer and build a network internally and externally and transition into the commercial bank - middle market segment.
Private wealth mgt. is a logical transition. Or middle market lending could work - depending on your exposure & knowledge.
I agree. I was going to suggest private wealth management. That would be a great transition to make.
There are many different ways depends what you want to do
Ok, I’d prefer to head towards a more specialized role, Private Banking would be ideal, but I’m open to AML/KYC as my degree aligns with it well.
Omg thought it was just me that was stuck! I would say first explore positions within your company. Let you’re area retail manager know you’re looking to gain more technical experience.
I have a degree in finance, left retail banking and now have a job as a staff accountant. It was challenging bc I had no technical experience. but try to relate your banking experience to the role as much as possible & let them know you’re committed and willing to learn.
This also depends on your goals tho. I assumed you wanted more technical experience
That’s what I’ve been doing, I’ve had a few interesting interviews but no bites unfortunately
I got into Wealth Management after working in retail Banking.
Mind if I DM?
Def DM me. I don't mind at all.
OP what do you do in retail now?
Private Client banker at JPMC on retail side
I suggest you start first within the company for other opportunities. But I also agree with the wealth management suggestion. That would be a good transition.
Come to AML! Best transition i made! Search for aml and kyc roles

I shifted to a Wealth Management role within my bank after working in the retail banking side for 3 years. Worked as a Client Service associate for 4 years, then was promoted to an Advisor managing the teams smaller clients. 3 years on from that and I’m now managing much larger clients. Feel free to DM if you want to chat more!
My company just hired a Product Manager for a deposits product that was in retail banking for years previously
