Out of sheer curiosity, do you invest in non-traditional assets such as art, collectibles etc.
1) what and how did you get into it?
2) how much and what do you expect as a return?

I invest in wine. It’s a liquid asset. Although I piss most of it away.

likefunnyuplifting

I’ve never considered it an investment because it’s my hobby but my magic the gathering collection has continued to go up in value and is definitely worth more than what I’ve put into it.

Black Lotus, definitely a good investment if you can get your hands on them for a good price

I've got a sizeable shoe collection that is generally worth more than I paid. Have a pair of dunks worth $1100 that I bought 6 months ago for $300

My other two avenues are sports cards and CSGO items.

I've input probably $5-600 in sports cards and my collection is probably about $1500.

As for CSGO items, I have a less optimistic outcome. I've put about $1000 and my stuff is worth about $1300

Yeah you can literally make a market out of anything. It’s the old concept of buy low sell high.

I don’t consider investment per se, but I do like sneakers and always up for trends. Most of the times it is more like window shopping but I like to spend some time looking at them.

Buying a house with monthly expense of $4900, although my current rent is only $2350. My total HHI with my husband is about $310K. I’m feeling weary of spending this much but we live in a HCOL area near a major city and we have high taxes. It’s hard to find anything decent under $800K. I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. My first mini goal is to have $5k saved by the end of December. I need motivation and words of encouragement. If I pay off my medical bills, I won’t make my goal. I have to start putting saving money first. Getting depressed about my situation.

I’m (early30s) about 8 months into a relationship with a 40m. Things are wonderful in every aspect, but he is absolutely atrocious with his finances. I felt it becoming an issue about two months ago. He forgets about auto payments and just generally doesn’t care. I sat down with him and looked at everything and even after talking it out he still continues to stress and it’s now causing me stress. I had a final discussion with him today about it and he went on abt how love isn’t enough for me…
