People are stressed, worried, juggling, fearing layoffs, learning to cook... It's ok if the boxes are not aligned or colors are off. Please don't be an a*****e. A little empathy will go a long way.

Wrong. Align boxes!

likefunnyuplifting

Not if it’s your job, to align the boxes and choose the right color. If you feel too stressed or unable to do your job, please take time off. You are not helping yourself or the client if the quality of your deliverables is not as required.

like

MC1, I hope your content, ideas / messages in your deliverables are better than what’s in your post here.

Lol.. this thread. Calm down people. Consultants have such an overstated opinion of their value. Jesus christ.

The post was about being emphatic during these tough time. Funny how people can't think beyond content and format. Chill.. Lol!!

like

You’re the one that brought up content and format though?

Yeah and as a former client, consultants care way more about their slides than the client in terms of “pretty” - clients care more about the content

like

Quality content comes first, and making things look pretty comes last. Why? Because it takes like 2 seconds.

like

You’d be surprised. If you knew me, I’m someone who does care about attention to quality and detail. The difference is that I care more about the content first, and then happily coach my team on how to make things look pretty. Most of the time, I end up formatting it myself, because it’s not a good use of my time to harp on my team for not aligning boxes.

Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

I just got laid off from my job as a gov contractor because the project I was working on ended. I’m currently a grad student part time and was hoping to work that job until finishing grad school before applying to consulting roles. Should I go ahead and try applying for those roles now since I don’t have a job? Or should I wait since I’m still in school until next May?

I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Now, with a loss of pay , we are going to make less. Do you think I will be eligible for Loan forgiveness?

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.
