Please advise me! What would open more doors for me? I have CPA and have 3 years of exp in tax. I am tired of tax and am looking to exit.

1) Senior accountant at a manufacturing plant- Fortune 500. Sounds like cost accountant.

2) Finance auditor at a Fortune 50 company, way higher revenue than the first option. It asks for 2 years exp but seems like a staff position.

Thank you!

#2 definitely. Opens tons of doors later for you.

Cost accounting is like another niche area. You can pivot into FP&A as financial auditor. It is more rewarding.

I would go with #2.

Some choice!

I would look at it as the in between job. Is tax really an adequate background for either. Pick the one that trains you for where you want to go.

like

Plant Controller perspective. Senior accountant for a manufacturer isn’t necessarily cost accounting, especially at a large company. Depending on how the Accounting/Finance department is structured Senior Accountants can responsible for ensuring GAAP and SOX compliance, Asset Management Inventory management, or FP& A with an opportunity to advance relatively quickly in large organizations.

Thank you, for the reasons you mentioned I am most likely going to this route!! 😊

2) ur gonna be at a top50 company and ur auditing finance

Good luck getting it

My professional advice matters a lot , you have to come in and consult for better service.

Forensic accounting maybe

Number 2

Have you been offered either of these roles yet? If not, I’d definitely pursue both and see how it goes. You can lear a lot through the interview process if you’re observant and ask thoughtful questions.

I accepted the Sr accountant role! Very excited 😊
