Grass is ALWAYS greener. I was in more “traditional” consulting is just monotonous power point slides. Finance is just sheets + slides and accounting is just sheets (mainly). Maximize income and find a hobby, leave big4 when able life is better, but all work is work
Have a job opportunity for you, message me
I would say you are early in your career and have great experience. Make manager and then look for a different role. If you end up missing or regretting it you can easily come back. It gets harder to make that exit the longer you stay. I’ve hated it since I made manager and by the time I was ready to do something about it my pay and life were so built up that making a move feels impossible. I wish I had tested the waters when I was in a position to do so.
GT1 OP said they are making manager in January 2025, that’s not far away. If it was me I would get my ducks in a row. Start the process and leave after I get the title so if I wanted to come back I could come back at that title with less arguments. Seems like when you are that close why not wait a couple months.
That said, if an opportunity came up I certainly wouldn’t turn it down to stay for the promotion.
I hear you
