First, experiential can meet a lot of things these days, but since you mentioned events I'll speak from that point of view.
Speaking from the creative side, experiential is a different world and I would say setting client expectations and being realistic is very important. Budget is important, and while you can do cool things low budget I've had clients who wanted a multi city installation that would last several months and there is no way we could even rent the space for the money they allotted, which made for a terrible start.
Also it's not as easy to "slap" something together so being realistic and fighting back about timing constraints on builds as well as keeping the client committed to the timeline is really important. If they take forever to approve things, there may not be time to build everything to the quality it needs to be - or something's build things at all.
On site, managing the client is different too. It's not like there's a video village the client is usually in it, watching, experiencing etc and the hours leading up to opening and first 30 minutes are crucial to running thing smoothly and a freaked out client or "hands on" client can really effect stress levels.
Hope this helps
Thank you for responding! I appreciate it. So easy to get in your head when you are frustrated…
I guess this question can be for those in HR but also Account Director’s who do have the ability to recruit talent as well.
I want to know what are they looking for.. I’m talking about not receiving interviews for those specific types of roles.. Even at the intern level. Now I’m not looking to intern but Ive applied to all levels and no response.
What exact roles are you applying for? Your experience is either too junior/too senior, or not addressing the job requirements if you’re hearing crickets across the board for years. Someone should be biting..
I receive interviews for non experiential account management roles! I’m applying specifically for those types of events based roles and my resume aligns with the job description.
