About rolling off my project with no new project opportunity yet. I’m already getting anxious and can’t have a full night rest with the worry of not finding a project soon and eventually getting laid off. Six months ago a financial conglomerate offered me a position. The pay and benefits were really good so I took it. Now, I’ve realised this company is dangerously toxic so I deeply regret leaving the firm.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Anyone else feel like we're an industry-wide equivalent of fiddling while Rome burned? Ignoring the impact a lot of our work has while waiting for all the tension in the country to break?
