i don’t think doordash is profitable. i don’t think any of the food delivery services are. just for the sake of comparison, ubereats loses over $3 on every order.

Not public. Yes they communicated during all hands about the significant increase in profits.
Why? They have to survive like the rest of business.

A family member works for them. They share increase in profits every month during their all hands and it is skyrocketing. Yet, some of the team members were laid off under the guise of performance issues. Family member got asked to take a pay cut and demoted him saying it was due to company reorg.

OP could you site what door dash profits were? As others have indicated most food delivery services are not actually profitable.
An increase from -$2M to -$1M is a much different story than saying "profits are skyrocketing"

There’s a whole host of reasons for it. Maybe they see this as a one time thing and realize their profits do not support their workforce. Maybe it’s just a PR move with an asterisk by this massive profits.

They are a business, if they want to stay profitable, sometimes they have to cut the workforce.
Not really. Some of the his teammates were sole earners in their family and it came as a shock to them.
