Highly variable by city and by practice. Even then variable by what project you get on. I'm in Data and Analytics and I had one super awesome gig as a SME for a $10m program in a F100 company with C-Suite exposure (I literally took a selfie with the CEO), others were pretty lame in comparison (butt-in-seat staff aug, report monkey gig)
What I think is a safe generalization to make across the company is that Slalom goes further than most consulting firms in living up to it's koolaid about culture and loving your work. No unwanted travel is a serious commitment they make.
If you're interested in easing off the gas and better WLB in exchange for (likely) slower salary progression, Slalom is a great choice.
If you're goals are to absolutely maximize your career trajectory, from what I've experienced and heard from others, Slalom is not a great candidate for that.
Office is key. My experience was low comp and almost no advancement opportunities, but great WLB and nice coworkers. The work was as strategic as you decide to make it. Great place to be while you’ve got young kids and don’t want to be on the road.
I'm quite overpaid for my role, so YMMV. I hit it off with my interviewer who suggested that I negotiate hard for higher pay because salary progression is slow once you get in. I'll share that same advice with you.
Happy to chat - what office contacted you?
WLB is real if you’re a consultant. Leaders have an expectation of high utilization including all the extra stuff like sales. Largely office dependant though
D2 - not every state, but most major cities. We’re small in the Midwest I think. Minneapolis, Chicago, and Detroit are our only offices
