Kinda, but measuring up. When they’re in utero 1 or 2 oz can be the difference between 50th percentile and 90th percentile. Which is what happened with my pregnancies. With my 2nd, my doc kept telling me I was having a huge baby—like 89th percentile. But when I compared his weight to my first born at the same week, it was literally ounces that separated them. I think the most important thing is that there is growth. 25th percentile most likely means compared to other babies at that that same gestation. As long as your baby is growing from week to week, it likely isn’t cause for concern. Also keep in mind the last 4 weeks, those monsters put on tons of weight. Like 2-3 lbs and really grow. Talk to your doctor again if you’re really concerned and to help ease anxiety — mama worries are natural and we’ve all been through them ❤️
Same. Remember the doc scaring me to death that I was going to have a huge baby? Measuring 9lbs right before induction. Came out 7.5 lbs, totally normal weight and smaller than his brother. All that to say, it’s never accurate and you’re looking for upward growth from week to week.
They do that? I've had 2 kids and don't recall them ever telling me about their growth percentile in the womb. The doctor would know so if that's what the doctor said, don't worry about it! They are the experts.
I’m sure not all docs do it because as you can see they’re always off and don’t do any good besides scare concerned mamas. If you look back on your medical charts, it’s probs there.
