A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
Hi fishes
I was supposed to have my Amazon Round 3 interview in the first week of May but the interviewer didn't join. My recruiter didn't reply for a few days and then rescheduled it.
Even in this rescheduled interview, my interviewer didn't join. This time my recruiter joined and said she'll reschedule my interview.
She still hasn't done that even after a follow up.
Is this common? Is this some kind of patience test?
I have no clue but I'm really frustrated at this point.
Please suggest

To me, it seems like nothing good comes from these type of “tests”.
But also, I wouldn’t do free work. But more so a quick diagnosis and ask questions of, what’s going on in the business right now and what was the original function of x, y, s? Were those goals met? And etc etc. otherwise all problematic findings could just be speculative right?
I’ll tweak my document to fit around that narrative. Thank you the tip!

When we ask for these types of tests we usually pay them for the day. But that's also because I'm very vocal about how we should not do these types of tests. We have their portfolio.
When people apply be an accountant, do they say “Here are last months books, do a quick audit on them”. What about lawyers? “Draft up divorce papers”. What about a photographer, “go to my daughter’s wedding and take a few photos”
Don’t. Do. It. It’s an insult to our profession. Say you’re worth it and explain your experience like a normal interview.
funny cause Accenture still does take home tests
If you really want the job, I suggest doing the test, but audit one of their competitors product instead of their product. This way you'll prove them that you're not skipping research and in the same time they'll have something they can't use. Also, if done right, you'll be considered a potential threat if you'll be hired by their competitor.
Excellent!
Could you do some rough wireframes of 2-3 examples and include a plan for what you’d do over the next few months to improve things?
Every single developer is asked to do a coding test these days. In that context this is a perfectly reasonable ask. I would absolutely want to see someone's work output as the best gauge of their skill. It is too easy to talk a good game in an interview, risking that when you are hired, your work turns out to be not that great.
The only area for pushback or resentment IMHO is in the scope and time commitment required to do the test. If it's more than a couple hours I would just calculate risk/reward and double check internally how badly do you want this job.
If it's for any kind of sizeable or reputable company, this test is definitely not free work and it's probably based on a client project they've already completed and want to see your approach to the same.
If the test is for some tiny shop and you have strong suspicions there are actually trying to get you to work for free...I would think there should be other warning signs besides this test, that you shouldn't want to work there.
Eh. I’ve been in the creative industry a long time. I can see the BSers from a mile away. This is why we (designers) spend so long on our books. The work and the stories should speak for themselves. Spec work (even for an interview) is not ok. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need to be spending my precious time solving problems I’m not getting paid for. If your recruiters aren’t trained well to see / know / hear talent, hire new ones.
