Can you still realistically get into PE from a MBB entry level position if you had consulting experience at another firm prior to that? Or are you seen as a “less than” candidate relative to peers who got into MBB straight from undergrad and as a result, ignored by PE firms? I’m aware that anyone theoretically has a chance but I didn’t know if having prior non-MBB consulting experience was a red flag for PE firms.

Is there typically a grace period to get billable requirements met when starting at a new firm? I started the first week of May. I'm about 90 hours short of a 170 requirement for the month. I have work, but it's big file review type stuff that takes a lot of actual time. Should I be sending out resumes, or killing myself to get these hours in by the 31st? I'm not a new lawyer, but am new to this practice area. They poached me from my last firm.
