Sincerely appreciate it!
Way to go!! Welcome to a great practice area! It depends on which state(s) you will be generally practicing in…focus there first. Check the resources on your state bar portals.
Do you have access to PLI at your firm? There are a lot of great real estate related CLEs on there, some of which include checklists, forms, etc. along with practice notes. PLI also has a treatise called Friedman and Smith on Contracts and Conveyances of Real Property that I find helpful.
If your firm has access to Westlaw’s Practical Law, there is some helpful stuff there, too.
Good luck!
Thank you!! I’ll check those out.
If you think that your practice may involve any real estate leasing, “Friedman on Leases” is a good resource. You don’t have to read it cover to cover either; you can simply refer to specific sections if you like. (I do suggest, however, that you familiarize yourself with the table of contents so that when the time comes you’ll know if the book can help you.)
The BEST resource for all work is atty friends and others with experience in the practice area. I’ve never had anyone refuse a request for help, nor have I.
In fact, if you’re lucky enough to find a decent person as OC, you can often ask if a particular provision is reasonable or customary. (I’ve made some great friends that way and I never lie to OC.)
