Recruiter reached out to me today with an opportunity I’m interested in but she said the max comp is $200k. Based on the responsibilities I’d consider at $220k. Do I go through and interview in hopes I knock their socks off and they’ll bring their offer up or don’t go down the path at all?

I got an offer at $110k recently after they initially told me the max was $95k

For some people who are married and may use their spouses healthcare I negotiated an extra 20k by saying I would not use their healthcare.

I would. What do you have to lose?

Do the interview get the offer and say I can’t take less than 220k at the end after understanding the responsibilities of the position. A decent size company won’t let you go for $20k a year

like

Exactly. This right here is the correct strategy for that % difference.

You have the most negotiating leverage after you complete the interview process and if they really want you.

Salary has been brought up on the first phone screening call, in my experience. Might as well see.

Do they know that you're looking for $220k? Any benefits you would consider to make up the difference?

like

I would reiterate the salary and let them make the decision to proceed or not. But it back on them.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.

About to head to the HC for a role in ProdOps and Strategy in Mountain View. 4 YoE at MBB, no competing offers. Recruiter gave me a form that asks expected comp.
Levels.fyi has only PM salaries. I haven’t been told the level but expect it to be L4.

What total comp would you expect for this role? Any advice would be super helpful, as I’m a bit lost.
