Most recruiters are young, creatively inexperienced, white women. Maybe if they weren't, you'd get more interesting candidates.
@Director 1 So everything is fair in the world, and race, age and gender means nothing? The BLM movement, or diversity and inclusion initiatives are something you laugh at?
Recruiters and other gatekeepers have, for years if not decades, quietly “advised” POC candidates to (for instance) remove ethnic market work from their portfolios, change their names to something less ethnic, and downplay their race and ethnicity in a variety of ways. That doesn’t get discussed nearly enough.

Recruiters aren’t the ones who hire. They aggregate and weed out candidates. I’m not saying some aren’t weeding out POC, LGBTQ, or disabled people, but recruiters aren’t the ones who hire them.

Amen, OP. But this thread will of course be filled with excuses, just like every other thread about the behavior of recruiters, because nothing is ever their fault.
Can I just ask also why so many heads of local offices are white people transferred from the US or U.K.? I hardly see the other way around.
Sure. How?
Everyone gets low balled. The sad truth is that diverse talent usually accept low ball offers because it’s still an offer and for diverse talent it’s harder to break in the industry/stay in it. Worst is, that recruiters know that.
Obviously you can’t judge all recruiters based on few bad experiences but that’s just what I’ve heard from some of my friends that are not white.
