Hi Fishes, I have received an offer from Barclays for AVP position. But the role discussed during interview was for Tech Delivery Manager whereas the offer letter mentions it as Tech Delivery Lead. Can you guys please suggest if it is the same role or should I request recruiter to get the role updated? Moreover it would be great if any of you can shed some light on the prospects/challenges of this role based on your experiences. Barclays Barclays global service center

Just received an offer from Deloitte (advisory SC, in risk and financial group (gps?)): $152k, $8k sign-on living in DC. Currently $135, but I would have to pay my current company apx 7k to move (payback for TA). DC area, in a highly cleared space. Any recommendations on how to counter or if its worth it?

I’m really excited about the opportunity to join your team and appreciate the offer. I wanted to discuss the starting rate — the posting listed a range of $60K–$80K (about $28/hour and up), and based on my experience supporting attorneys and performing paralegal work over the past six months, I’d like to be considered for a rate that reflects that range.
I completely understand that I’m growing into a formal paralegal role, but given the responsibilities and my relevant background, would you be open to something closer to $24-26/hour?
I’m confident I can quickly demonstrate value and meet the expectations for this position. I’d love to start off on terms that reflect both the role’s responsibilities and the commitment I’ll bring to the team.

As long as that reevaluation is a guarantee and not something they are just using to string you along. Worst-case scenario, you can at least get the experience there and move on from that.
Get the reevaluation in writing. What the rate would be if you proved yourself and what that would mean
I worked as a Paralegal right of school I was hited for a personalinjuryattorneybut also requiredto work for the other 5 attorneies when they needed something. It was no big deal. I worked for this woman who thought I was less than but at least it was a job. I later decided to move on and went back to school and got my Masters degree. I worked for a middle school for a month until I caught a break. I was hired with Department of Energy. I really was excited and I had great coworkers to work with and just so excited. I think i lost my mind the first day I was there. I finally was tapped with the Department heads a Federal Oversight of the contract and she gave me the break I needed to learn from her on how government worked. As far as technology was concerned they were far from what I learned in school. The instructors I had were ahead of the rest of the bunch as far as technology. They always ready to teach cutting edge courses. I guess the rest of the University wasn't to happy for whatever reason and I couldn't care less. I learned so much from them! I fell in love with technology through them. I have always kept my skills up to stay on top of what's happening. I had lost both my parents and my job in 3byears and I spent a year looking for another job. I gave up because ppl have pre-concieved ideas about disabled people. Like we really aren't that smart. I've had to prove my ability at every job I've ever worked! Nobody should be made to feel like you're good enough to be here. I didn't have to feel that way my boss back then. Im sure I will if I go back to work which I am planning on doing by opening my own business with AI as a consultant. Im scared what if myself to death and have yet to launch my business to the world. I really know in my heart I can do it but doubt keeps me from doing it at least today it does. I pray I can overcome my fear and just do it! I have to donit for myself not anyone else but me. I am hoping tomorrow I will have the courage to just take the leap into my AI consulting company!
In the future always go above Your salary. Making twenty I would tell them that I was making 26 and let them talk me down to 25 or 24 And follow up letting them know that you expect a 90 day review to get to 27.50-28.00

I would try to get the reevaluation in writing and re assess from there
Get that $25 you deserve, work ethic and ability to solve tasks with the can do attitude goes a long way. Just bust your butt and someone is bound to notice.
Thank you! I'm definitely very driven and motivated to learn: I've been taking those self paced courses on Alison and Coursera - I've gotten 15 different certificates (Electronic Document Management, Tort Law, Contract Law, Becoming a Successful Paralegal, Office Etiquette and Professionalism, to name a few) and one diploma in ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) which was a 30 some hour course. And I took it upon myself to start the process for a Notary Public Commission. Just waiting on the application to be processed by the Secretary of State. I know that my efforts and clear eagerness to learn and be successful. As soon as I applied for this position and found out they did Probate Wills & Trusts, I did a course and got a certificate in Probate Wills and Trust Law. I interviewed for an Asbestos litigation firm - I turned around and got two different certifications in asbestos. I've really tried to put a lot of effort in to show how serious I am about being successful, so I think that definitely helped in this process in the long run, and why this place was even willing to take a chance on me to begin with, with less than 6 months experience, when they easily could have chosen someone with more experience. I'm just going to keep at it with the same level of passion and steadily grow and elevate my career as I go. 🩷
I would not ask for a raise at this stage. Instead, I would accept the $22 per hour, invest in completing my formal studies using that income, and apply for the Lawyer position in the same company earning much more than 28$, aiming directly for long-term value creation and equity participation.
Take some classes on Paralegal studies. I had awesome instructors they were all lawyers. They were awesome and I learned so much from them. I knownits hard to work and go to school but why not try it. You may find something different that you like better and it may help you make a lot more money!
I’m officially invested in this story. Please let us know what happens after the 90 day probation period. I’m intrigued to know if they do the right thing and stand by their word.
