SCOTUS overrules Roe. Me, being from the south, recognizing that the south is about to get even shittier. The south/southwest will now become a worse place while the coasts get more crowded and will have an even worse degree of wealth inequality. The rot continues.

All because of an unelected panel of supreme overlords that we only like when their decisions suit us. Democracy?

Politicians in red states want to go back to the 1900s where white men ruled everything, minorities had no say, women were to be submissive to men, and LGBT people had no rights. They might as well invest in a time machine.

I went to law school in the South and live in New York now. I’ve told my friends who stayed in Georgia that if they ever need or know anyone who ever needs to come “take a vacation” or want to “work” in NY as a nanny/dog walker because they’re in need, I’m willing to help in whatever way I can. I’ve got an open couch.

The idea is that the Judicial would be non-political and would serve as a counterbalance to the vicissitudes of the elected legislative branch by protecting the constitutional limitations and those of the (anticipated) Bill of Rights. The elected, however, have destroyed that impartial arbiter by stacking the same with idealogues.

Jewish hospitals will prioritize the mother and not the baby absent specific instructions to the contrary, if god forbid it ever comes to that for anyone here. I know you aren’t necessarily in the best position to be choosy about the hospital when such situations arise, but it could be helpful to know if there’s one around you/where it is if you’re pregnant and have concerns about treatment. Also could help to add living will, etc. assistance to the “underground railroad” services, so anyone lucky enough to be in a position to prepare for such tragic emergencies can state their wishes in no uncertain terms. I’m in Michigan so unfortunately I still don’t know if I’ll be among those in a safe state or a state of bigotry 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Big law specialist with an offer to be the CFO and GC of a 250M AUM hedge fund. All in comp would probably be ~$300k, so about $100k less than where I would be in big law (including bonus). Potential to get involved in the business side, but most likely more of a back office role (I would also be the only legal hire - main goal would be cutting outside legal cost and streamlining processes). Does this sound like an attractive offer? What exit options would I have?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
