Amelia Island or St Augustine Beach both not too far from JAX, stuff for families to do, you can spend a lot or not too much. Kiawah is great and close to Charleston for day trips but not much for kids out there except beaches
NC resident here. Agree with BCG1. HH is a great family spot. My family has stayed at the Marriott Barony Beach which was very nice with the kids. It makes everything easier not having to go off property very often. If you want a really slow paced vacation that is way off the beaten path I would throw Ocracoke Island, NC into the mix. Logistically that might not work for you (you need a four wheel drive to access the beach) but that is my family’s absolute favorite.
Kiawah and HH are great. I’m from NC and partial to their beaches. My favorite is Bald Head Island. Cars are forbidden. You park and take a ferry over. Each house / hotel room gets a golf cart. It’s transporting
Haha @BCG1 I was a luggage jockey for the BHI ferry on the mainland side summers when I was in college. Agreed it is a lovely spot. HH is great, too!
A lot of good choices. What kind of vacation are you looking for? Lots of stuff to do or a more laid back quiet vacay?
Would appreciate thoughts on places to go over kids’ fall break. 3 kids, no points (I don’t travel) so not looking for luxury hotels. Currently looking at Kiawah or Hilton Head in SC, or maybe Sanibel FL, with Miami as a wild card. Thoughts / experiences on the above, or anything better I’ve missed?
Thanks! Mostly laid back beach but with options for other stuff - hiking, parks, maybe a charter boat or something
Jekyll or St. Simon's Island, GA Airbnb
Treasure Island or Englewood/Boca Grande - great, laid back Florida beach locations with plenty to do
