I would recommend keeping your Rollover IRA at Vanguard and your current 401k with Merrill. In general an IRA has more investment choices and flexibility and Vanguard funds/ETFs generally perform in the top quartile compared to their peers. Your choices may be limited with Merrill both in terms of fund options and higher fees.
I have a Vanguard Roll Over IRA and a Merrill 401k account through KPMG
A financial advisor at Merrill would be happy to assist you in consolidating and rolling over to Merrill. Generally consolidate for ease of money management.
I work with an advisor who I like you can DM me for contact info if you’re interested in a lead
There could be a number of reasons -
1. What’s your investment mix? Target date funds? Mix of stocks and bonds? What’s the percent allocation between stocks and bonds ?
2. What specific funds / ETFs are you invested in?
3. The YTD return for the S&P 500 is -0.5% so you are actually beating the market by a whole percentage point.
I ll reach out to a financial advisor at Merrill. Thank you!
Thank you for the suggestion D1. I ll take a look at the options before taking any action. Can I DM you to get some advice on the type of ETFs or funds to invest in? The return on my vanguard account been an increase of only .51% increase in past 7 months... if you have some tips or advice, I would love to discuss with you if you’re willing to chat
Yes. Absolutely any time
