Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/ Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Hi Fishes,
Anyone here at Luxoft with permanent remote ? I got an offer. Will they ask to come to office at any point ? What about job security at Luxoft ? HR mentioned 8 hours per day and no need to enter timesheet, time will be auto captured. That means like we can't be away from the system at all ? Please help.
Thanks

I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

- Sit stand desk (Ikea, cheap but has been going strong for 5 years).
- Dell 34" monitor
- Genelec 8040 monitors
- Focusrite DAC for monitors
- Blue snowball mic for conference calls
- Built under desk cable routing and cable storage to hide all cables
- Hooks for headphones / headsets
- Herman Miller Embody chair
- Mesh wireless networking (Netgear orbi and it has been Rock solid for me) throughout the house with wired backhaul
- gigabit fiber for fast file uploads (way overkill, but I work in analytics and need to move large files once in a while)
- Separate shelves for printer scanner (primarily used by my wife)
- iPad pro to mark up decks/take notes
I think that covers it.
Adjustable desk all the way. I got mine from Fully.
And they're pretty easy to assemble and disassemble (if moving)! Didn't buy the monitor arms though
My setup. Planar (middle) and Asus portable on portrait (left). Wireless mouse. Desk is sit only but option to sit/stand ideal 😉
Hahahah why thank you 😊
Really helpful! Thanks for sharing!
No problem :) and middle/left were screens from previous firms lol so no additional cost to me 🙃🦄
I set up a whole office. Then I decided I never wanted to look at it when I didn’t have to. Had a contractor build everything into disappearing panelling. Was way more expensive but at least when I’m done working I don’t have to be reminded...
What’s disappearing paneling?
So, depends on your home but a couple key things I did to my home office were around sound proofing. Mostly due to young kids. Most doors in home are hollow core, so upgrade to a solid core door to reduce noise. Weather stripping on the frame where the door closes to further plug gaps between door and frame. Ideally, probably pull the trim from around the doorframe to fill with expanding foam (otherwise there is a hollow space between two tiny pieces of trim that lets a lot of sound get through). And possibly a threshold at the bottom of the door depending on if it’s carpet or wood
Embody chair is probably overkill. Save a grand and go with an Aeron
Aeron is about the same price as the embody once optioned out. My embody was $1400. Aeron with equivalent options is $1300ish and less comfortable imo.
You can get refurb Aerons with all the bells for $500-600
Monitor - Dell u3419w
Mouse - Mx master 2s
Keyboard - logitech craft
Chair - Herman Miller aeron (refurbished)
Desk cycle 2
Table - ikea
You guys are awesome! Any docking solutions? We have HP and Dell laptops. Thinking of getting a big 32’’ monitor or two 27’’ ones
And I should mention that’s because my house is one level, with a long hallway that ends directly at my home office so sound definitely travels. Got a rug for the hallway, and putting sound panels behind the canvas prints I have in the hallway for sneaky sound dampening as well
Husky adjustable sit-stand workbench from Home Depot. Blonde wood, industrial vibe and sturdy AF for a desk if that’s your vibe.
Adjustable height desk and monitor arms are key. I could leave the desktop and subwoofer on the floor but I like to keep the floor clear for easy Swiffering lol.
