Slack is great for communication and logging without killing your inbox
@slalom calling anything the best is delusional at best & ignorant at worst
@bcg yes
Agreed lol
Y’all use slack at work? What’s *that* like?
We’ve been on it a couple years. It has worked really well to unite our practice around silliness, news, learning, achievements, etc. It can be challenging to feel connected, with everyone being distributed across clients.
BCG1 you can turn notifications off
slack sucks
Are you guys using it at EY?
Does everyone use it on mobile? I feel like the contacts pings require more immediate attention than an email in some ways which makes it more stressful
It's ok. I like Atlassian's stuff way better, more in line with how I like to work
Downvote OP. Bad take. Slack rocks.
@c1 lol, it might be for the right use cases, as a Yammer alternative but not meant for consulting engagements where we can’t say/share confidential stuff, requires people to deal with another platform in addition to chat, mail. I get that kids like it because it seems fun but from a work benefit perspective, it’s a hassle
Love slack!
You say kids to dismiss technology that is not only well passed proof of concept, but is used by many industries. History has never been on the side of technophobes
@bcg2 lol, you don’t who you’re calling technophobes. I’m dismissing people who claim it as great for what we do. I’m not dismissing the technology.
It is great for what we do, ya ol’ curmudgeon. It is plainly the best team communication platform. About 10% of my people don’t like it, don’t use it. But, they wouldn’t use ANY collab platform. They miss a lot.
You’re the best curmudgeon.
I think it’s hard to use. But maybe that’s because they gave people a FAQ, made it optional, and you can’t create your own project groups, so like what’s the point
