Slalom Change Management

Looking to make a move in the next 6 months to drastically decrease out of town travel. Those who work for Slalom in OCM I welcome your thoughts on work and/or culture.

Expect little to no pay bump. Little to no bonus. Little to no raise. Follow the slalom bowl, slalom is cheapin’ out on its people. Depending on your location/market, slalom leadership is questionable

Other than that, the OE practice is thriving and one of the top revenue drivers. Work is good for general change management and the people you work with are great. Nice to have no travel.

Work life balance is better, little to no travel, but projects are sometimes staff aug and where you get placed has more to do with the “pipeline” (what roles are available) than with your career goals. Also pay is not as high and neither are raises or bonuses. But the culture is young and fun and people are very collaborative. It all really depends on your priorities and where you are in life.

That’s spot on. I work at Slalom now.

As an immigrant, I’m grateful for the opportunities afforded to me since moving to the USA. But, I must say, it still doesn’t feel like home after a decade. I still cannot wrap my mind around the gun culture, lack of universal healthcare and emphasis on education (critical thinking). I’m planning to leave in the coming year or so. COVID really made me realize that life is indeed short.

Considering a 2nd home that would be a large historic home in a very, very small historic town with 1 or 2 restaurants and an ice cream shop. Would you all travel 3ish hours for a week away in the summer on the water with nothing around you? The home could accommodate multiple families so it would be a great getaway for groups. We have family in the area who would care for the home but I’d want it to be fully booked when we are not there to help offset the rehab investment.

Does anyone have knowledge of the financial crimes practice in KPMG? I am interviewing for a position to move there from a current forensics position. The KPMG recruiter explained that its an extremely small practice and I wouldn't be doing a lot of the "grunt" work any more like clearing alerts in AML etc. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what this practice really does? Online info is not that descriptive. Also, is the 80-100 percent travel really true or is a bit less?

Currently have a 5th grade girl who is struggling with classroom behaviors and choices. When questioned, she says she wants to be a boy, but her parents won’t allow it. Obviously, she is struggling with more than making good choices at school. Her parents are very kind and appreciative of all we do for their child, but they are also clearly struggling with this. Anyone ever been in a similar situation or have some advice on how we can best support the student?
