Did TBWA/Wildtype have layoffs??
Any word on layoffs at JPM?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

No one knows exactly besides leadership. Obviously markets have been weird. Clients have been tightening up. Past years have seen expansion and increased hiring. And Accenture’s consulting precedents obviously play a factor too. D5 will keep making great work, but it does feel like the skepticism among employees is more prevalent. Feels like an exodus has already happened this Summer. Would be shocked if anyone willingly walked away from a D5 paycheck in this environment rn.

Unfortunately even being great doesn’t make you immune to market changes. Droga’s clients, just like any other agency’s clients, will tighten their budgets and pull back during weird times and in turn affect the agency.
It really sucks here right now and it’s hard to do good work when everything feels just like churn. Leadership is pretty out of touch with what people need and doesn’t really seem interested in learning. The work also hasn’t been great in the last couple years. While layoffs are inevitable, the agency really messed up by not realizing (or hoping no one noticed) that nearly every person cut was a person of color. A lot of people were actually commenting on how they wished they had gotten laid off so they would have the (paid) time to update their books.
