So I drive a Tesla model S and wife has a model Y

We used to be respected and admired by our neighborhood but recently I have a noticed a change.

Neighbours look at us with disdain now - one even gave me the finger as I was pulling into my driveway the other day.

Thinking about selling my Teslas. Anyone experiencing this?

Sell teslas and don’t associate with Elon. That’s the only answer. He is associated with wite nationalist hate

likefunnysmart

False. He is quite liberal

Brands evolve. It's definitely a tough one since it's not like the car quality has fallen off a cliff... just the founder

likefunnysmart

And he wasn't actually the founder, either. He became CEO after.

I was Boo'd by a teenager in a parking lot. The teslas have it rough right now 😂😅

I sent me Model Y back a few weeks ago - I am in UK and there is lots the press about others doing the same (and more widely across Europe)

Trying to beat the car tax change from 1st April, no doubt!

I would say thinking that you are Being admired because of the cars you owned is probably where it all begins ;-)

Economic boycott is the most powerful, civili and peaceful thing you can do. Like BSD Movement.

If you want to “punish” Elon for his policies, I would definitively sell the car.

likefunny

The people vandalizing Teslas are extremely disturbed. Contact law enforcement if you see these people so that they can get the help they desperately need.

Man people are way overthinking so much right now.

I call BS. I’d believe it if you said random strangers give you the finger while driving your Tesla. Your neighbors know you’ve had these cars before Musk went off the rails.

like

I mean you say you used to respected and admired. Hopefully it’s not because of the car. If that was the only reason, then no one on this thread can help you.

like

Did you purchase the two cars before or after Elmo purchased his twit platform? If before, you were a victim of circumstances, if after, you knowingly supported his fascist views.

I say whether the storm I think it’s wonderful that you have a Tesla and your wife also. I don’t remember exactly what was going on years ago with the Prius, but it went through it up and down. Nobody even thinks about that anymore. This is coming from people that don’t have or have not tried to have knowledge about all the propaganda their hearing, so they are reacting based on What!??

Hopefully, it’s just a bump in the road and I support Tesla. I support Musk?. He is also very misunderstood. He’s doing wonderful things for humanity. He’s transparent. He’s the real deal and the people that are slamming him are not. !

There’s just way too much anger going on out there and I’m sorry that Americans in general can’t expand their horizon and knowledge before they condemn no matter what party they are with when they can show that they can do better for Americans and better for humanity than maybe a small percentage would listen to them, but it’s not about that you and your wife have a great car. You’re doing a great thing in reference to the climate and whenever I see anyone driving a Tesla right now I always wave at them or give them a thumbs up. You are A-OK in my book.

funny

If you like the cars STOP worrying about it. If you are weak-willed and worry to much about a jeslous neighbor flipping you the finger, then fine… be a sheep.

And for those who think they are hurting Elon with a boycott of Tesla.. remember he is a minority owner now. If the stock price drops and he loses $5M just remember he earns that much every hour just on the interest of his money in the bank. The interest and royalties he earn from his intellectual Property by far more important to him now- and most of Tesla competitors buy/use his intellectual property and pay him royalties… Ford, Gm, Honda etc are all his cash flow. He still gets your money if you buy an electric car!

Checkmate!

Who you are hurting are the middle class techs, marketing, and sales people who work at Tesla.

smartfunny

Don't feed into the hate! My wife and I are planning on buying two new Teslas because we are not brainwashed. We support Teslas mission and it has not changed since it's inception. We love our existing Teslas, easily the best cars we have ever owned.

funny

They are objectively terrible cars

Don't be a fool. Ask how many of your neighbors use Nestle or Monsanto products. Do you honestly think any CEO of any company cares for anything apart from making money for themselves at the expense of destroying as much of the environment and the plebs? Elon is just doing it in your face.

It’s strange that neighbors admire someone just for their cars. I drive a Porsche, and instead of admiration, I mostly get looks of jealousy but I could care less about what my neighbors think of my vehicle.

I’m graduating in December, with a background in environmental economics and policy. Consulting didn’t work out this cycle. Made it to final rounds for Bain and Kearney but in the end didn’t get an offer. I want to recoup and try again, but I’m worried that once I’m out of undergrad the door will be closed to starting in consulting.

What can I do to make this happen? I have friends and connections at Bain and Kearney and the other firms as well, but not sure if it’s feasible now.

I have a 20+ year career doing AdTech/BI/Analytics in media agencies. Started as an intern, rose up to director and board member at various agencies.

I switched to tech consulting at SM level early this year for the money but also to see new industries & learn something new. Had to quit the small firm I joined after only 5 months due to chaotic and overbearing leadership. Now I have an offer from Avanade and one from a big media agency on the table.

Should I go back or stay in consulting?
