Any advice from fellow women in this industry? How did you overcome gender biases?

Less of a question, more of a request... stop asking your junior BIPOC strats to work on BLM briefs because they are the only voice of color on your team. In a time where we need support grappling with our very REAL realities and how it impacts how we show up in the agency, the LAST thing we need is an “opportunity” to express our “unique POV” on a diversity brief (that we won’t even get to speak to none the less). Imagine having to chanbel your trauma into a deck to sell in an idea to clients?

Hello fishes, Do you have suggestions on Diversity & Inclusion activities that can be done virtually with a group? I found few ideas in google but would love to hear about any experiences and suggestions.

Does anyone talk about economic diversity? You know middle class and economically challenged people who cannot afford art schools and expensive private colleges?

Does anyone have any metrics/ benchmarks they could share on diversity hires? We're putting goals together for 2023 and our senior leadership wants 30% of all candidates interviewed and hired to be gender or ethnic diverse.

What do you wish you knew before starting your career in Diversity & Inclusion?

Social Strategy Peeps--level, salary, gender, exp?

Does the word “inclusion” do more harm than good? What if the panel we simply said “Diversity & Equity”? My thought here is that inclusion insinuates that anyone who isn’t in the “majority” needs to feel “included”, which could be somewhat off putting. Shouldn’t the goal be for everyone to feel equal instead of simply feeling included? I’d love to get some opinions on this!

How to approach it?
1) Network - send out coffee chat emails to alums or any professional at the firms you want to apply to
2) Prep technicals, behaviorals
3) Insights/Diversity programs - look for any that are still open and apply ASAP if you qualify, they can lead to an accelerated interview process
4) Find when apps usually open

Has anyone ever been in a mostly platonic relationship? I don’t like to label myself much, but I don’t really like intimacy and don’t really like romance. Some people would say I’m asexual/aromantic, but unless that too is a spectrum, I don’t think I fit squarely into that group. As I get older, I’m realizing I’m feeling very lonely. It would be nice to find someone, but have it be platonic (any gender/sex). It’s weird, I know. It’s hard to articulate as well. Can anyone relate? 😭😭

We are exploring having a third party come in and assess our I&D efforts across our company. We have many locations across North America. Is anyone aware of an entity who does this? We have found questionnaires through target organizations and have done anonymous employee surveys but are hoping to find someone who can do an assessment for gender, minorities, disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+, etc. and provide feedback on the actual employee experience and where we may have blind spots.

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗

We are starting to really address diversify and inclusion and build partnerships with community resources.

Question on entering consulting. Worked for a non-profit for six years, entered healthcare tech last year as a CSM, and just got an offer from a life sciences consulting firm. My hope is to eventually get into more broad strategy consulting (MBB or big 4, have connections at both). Would working at a more boutique firm limit or help in the long run? I don’t want to be in life sciences forever but figured it could be a good launchpad into consulting. I’m 30 so not old, but also not young.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️
