Sometimes I feel like I don’t spend enough time with my daughter, like enough real quality time...anyone else ever feel that way?

Sometimes I feel like I am a drone that just works all the time and I have no friends.

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

What did you THINK you were going to do when you started college, and what do you do today?

If you and your girlfriend went to law school together, were you together the night the bar results came back? What if one of you doesn’t pass / and the other feels like they can’t celebrate?

My family mistreated me when I was younger, and now that I don’t live at home, they don’t call or bother to look for me, because frankly, I think they have a hard time admitting what happened - and will never apologize to me either. If I don’t call, or occasionally go see them during the holidays, we would never talk. Some of them are growing old (health-wise), and I’m scared this entire situation is just irreparable. Today, I showed a TED Talk about the Guatemalan genocide. We were discussing the role of forensic anthropologists. It made such an impact on my students. I teach in a super red state and district and often my students do not see the pain of our Central American neighbors and why they seek asylum here. I tied their plight to my mom’s post-WWII and asked them why she was welcomed by our current immigrants are not. It was so powerful. One of my LatinoX students told me thank you for today’s lesson.
