Author here. I’d like to clarify just as to not come across as racist. I have had one previous similar experience with a Latin agency. Also, I am Asian.
In Jersey, right?
Unfortunately Asian agencies aren’t paid what general market agencies are. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t demand what you feel you’re worth though... if it’s the agency I’m thinking of than yeah, there’s some really good people over there. Super nice. The odds of doing memorable work is slim though b/c US clients only hire multicultural agencies to cover their asses.
Let me clarify, I'm not saying your day rate isn't justified... I'm positive it is, it's just that AA multicultural agencies will have a seizure with some of the day rates that general agencies pay.
If you're familiar with the culture, it's not a bad gig (if you don't mind the dramatic day rate reduction). It can be pretty fun, but you'll run into the same BS you run into every other agency... politics, creative vs account services, etc.
Multicultural agencies usually have to work with less budget
Let me guess... InterTrend? Or IW Group? And no, your day rates do not apply. Their salaries and budgets are much smaller
1k seems steep .....
Were they based in the US?
Yes based in US.
Multicultural agencies usually have much smaller budgets.
Ugh, yea. In general, MC agencies pay less than GM because they have less scope and less budget.
I've worked at a few hispanic agencies and it's the same deal. It sucks.
