Very common. Just be sure to leave on a good note. Transition your clients to others. Be helpful to your teams. Say positive things when you tell people you are leaving such as “I learned a lot during my time at EY and am thankful for the experience. I had this new opportunity come up that I am excited about.”
Be positive and helpful on your way out and you won’t burn bridges.
So essentially as long as you aren’t an asshole, and are upfront with your team it’s all good? I also have a ton of pto that I would like to take before I leave. Is that relevant?
I currently am unassigned for a chuck of this summer. I wanted to take a break before I accept this offer. Won’t have much work from my main client since it’s private 10/31. I know they get paid out, I wanted to use it for the mental break. Essentially I plan on putting my two weeks in October, but take 4 weeks off this summer. Reasonable?
That seems reasonable to me.
You must be new here.
Yes, don’t be an asshole is the number one rule. You get paid out your PTO when you leave so keep that in mind when figuring out timing.
I wouldn’t take 2 weeks off and then come in and quit with no notice, for example. If you put in your two weeks and then want to take PTO, that might be a jerk move because you won’t be transitioning your work, etc.
OP you get promoted October. I would take PTO now in the summer and look for a job
Common. Live the Vida Loca. Carpe Diem mi amigo.
