If you think your promotion is pretty likely I'd stay. If you switch firms you start over in terms of your personal brand. And you will 100% be put on the worst clients too.
If you're switching service lines then yeah, go. Or if you hate your current clients/team.

This makes sense if you’re trying to switch service lines because your current firm won’t accommodate you. There’s costs to leaving early. The hugest would prob be your 401k employer contribution, as you probably aren’t fully vested. Also if you invest your money, each big 4 has different independence requirements, so odds are you’re going to have to sell some securities, which can leas to cap gains taxes
If for same service line, it would come off as weird unless* you are at pwc where they make u do 3 years instead of the 2.
If you switch, only go under the condition of promotion. Even that they could reneg on. It’s safer to stay til promotion then switch, and your pay at the new firm is probably better
