What all perks MSCI joiner can expect?
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I always thought I would never quit my job without something else lined up. I’m financially cautious and it seems like such a risky move.
That mentality changed though when I reached peak burn out stage. I started interviewing while still in public accounting, but ended up quitting before solidifying any offers because busy season was fast approaching and I just couldn’t go through another one again.
Things ended up working out for me cause I got two offers shortly after. I know you are in a different boat but just know it will all work itself out in the long run. It’s easy for people to comment here about how it’s never a good idea to quit without another job lined up - but our mindsets are allowed to and are going to change - especially when our mental well-being has been pushed to the limit. I hope you don’t look back at this decision with regret, because you don’t know where you would be now if you ended up choosing the other path.
Well don’t thank me yet I think point was if you’re in an in demand field that others don’t feel like doing , you’re going to be ok
It might be tough to jump to a s**y consulting role
If you need a break then you interview somewhere else, get that offer and negotiate a start date 8 weeks or so out. Then you quit your current job & take your 2 months to recharge.
You never, ever quit a job without something else lined up. Unless of course you have rich parents, then do whatever you want.
I’m sorry it’s been tough to get an interview. Usually it is better to line up a job then quit, but sometimes we just can’t. And that’s okay. Sometimes I have to prioritize my mental and physical health over a paycheck. Sometimes the paycheck wins. Just have to know what you’re getting vs giving.
Good luck with your job search.
I was burnt out from PA as well last year, so I quit my job then traveled around the world for a year. Spent nearly 50k doing everything I wanted to do but it was the best decision of my life and I have no regrets(broke af now tho lol). For the last three months of traveling I put in around 30 applications or so to prepare for when I get back. Guess what, 26 rejections lol. It was disappointing getting rejected by all the mid tier firms but just landed a job at big4. Everything’s going to work out eventually, take it easy bro one day at a time.
Best of luck. Don't be afraid to try something else if what you want is not readily available.
It’s definitely not a smart move but not the end of the world. Keep going 💪🏻
How long have you been applying? It usually takes 3 months
You’ll be fine I’ve done this twice - took me 4-6 months each time to find another role. Work on your resume and interview skills, apply to jobs everyday and hopefully something will work out
Best wishes in your search. A wise friend -who was also a recruiter -once told me that often people look for that new job to be perfect but once there a bit it is a disappointment . Sometimes you may have to change jobs again to find what you were looking for. Right now you need a paycheck and a job. Keep expectations realistic so you aren’t discouraged if the replacement job isn’t what you hoped for. You will find a great job that suits you eventually. I did and believe me the in between job was valuable in setting my expectations and gaining additional experience. You’ll always learn something. Good luck.
Quitting without another job lined up does not seem like a smart move
I am in the same boat as you. I left tax before tax season started without anything lined up, and am looking for a job still. It’s been 3 ish months. I agree, people don’t understand quitting without a job lined up. Logically, it makes the most sense to have a job before you quit your current one. But circumstances change and not everything will fall in line perfectly. I felt like I needed time to take care of myself because I felt so burnt out and unhappy. I have been feeling a lot better, but a little panicked about the job search. But I think in the end, I will be in a better place
Maybe it's the resume. Do you have someone who can check it? Make sure to emphasize on skills you can bring over to new position.
Happy to help with a resume review 🫡
