Is Operations paid the least at your respective firms? I was hired to a Client Service Delivery role with a heavy focus on project management. I regularly interface with leadership internally and at the client. But, I am aligned to the “Operations” capability and make the least of my teammates who perform seemingly identical work but are aligned to “Strategy and Consulting.” I worry I’m on a career path to being paid the least wherever I go, because Operations is in my title and background.

Am I screwed? I’m on track for about 1300 billables for 2021, target is 2000. While one month I did not reach out for work every other month I have, including the heads of my groups, and have told many people I am slow and can take on work. Hello! Has anyone ever built a campus recruiting structure for a company? Meaning they started from scratch and built out campus recruitment? What was the pros and cons? Also, what was your salary, how long did you stay there and did you enjoy building this out?

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

What is the process for negotiating a job offer (from a firm or otherwise)? Do you have to be ready to ask for more salary/bonus/other perks right when they call you to make the offer, or can you ask for time to consider and then call back with your additional requests? I’m not the best at thinking quickly on the spot, so feel like I could be more thoughtful if I took a day or two to consider my requests.

Why does everyone say the work in FDD is so much better than audit? I’ve been in the group for a few months now, and it seems to be just as bad if not worse.

Any thoughts on how to handle working with coworkers who are very friendly/well-liked by most but are utterly mediocre at what they do and just want to coast? Makes me feel like I’m the difficult one.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️
