In this job market it is best to try your best to get another job while in your current job. It’s a tough market currently and could take some time to find the right fit. If you’re ok with depleting savings until you find something by all means get out asap
Have you tried shifting to another role in your firm? Maybe an internal role?
Try to looking for another job cos the job market is a bit tight. But if you feel very unhappy and need a break, then make sure you have like a year of savings. All you need is a good support system like a supportive partner or family. All d best!
How much longer are these golden handcuffs? Financial stability may be worth waiting another few years if you could take a pay cut or try something else at that point. Doesn’t sound like the job is toxic, this is about you thinking the grass is greener.
Can you last another 6 months to build a safety net? It’s also easier to find another job while currently employed, so start looking and only jump for the right opportunity.
Depends.... for one, how much savings do you have to last you through unemployment? The current job market is brutal even for lateral moves, so I'd make sure I have a big enough safety net if I'm looking to pivot to a different field altogether (1-2 years of expenses)
Is it golden handcuffs or you just can't find any job you want, regardless of the pay? Either way, if you've had this much trouble thus far, not sure quitting to spend more time looking will help much
It is usually easier to get another job when you already have one. Seems like you are just feeling out of control of the situation. Understand that you can't control your current work load, but you can control the effort you put into trying to secure another job. The job market has changed so try and see how quickly you are able to get interviews before you jump out into the unknown.
Last September I quit my job at a big 10 without another job lined up. I took 3 months off and spent the time with my family. I interviewed for my next job in October and made my decision as to where to go in November and started work in January. I had no problem getting jobs or landing interviews. I took my time and made the best decision for my family.
No I would not have had a difficult time getting a job while I was still working either. You make a good point.
