I was on a partner/manager call today and they were discussing the “high” turnover at the senior and experienced associate level. What was shocking is that while ours is about double normal, evidently we are 3 out of 4 in turnover meaning 2 of the Big 4 are even higher.

I’ve doing this for a good number of years. I think I depleted almost completely my interest in this business. When I’m out of the office or during the weekends I get into a “leave me alone state” and don’t want to know anything about the office. I actually just want to get in the agency, do the best I can within the time I have available, and get out. In a business where “the most committed wins” this is not an ideal mindset, but I’m done. What books should I read about being a great manager?

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
