There are rumors going around that layoffs or downsizing might be coming to my company soon. I'm supposed to take 10 days for a vacation next week. Should I cancel that? I don't want to lose my job.

Bruh, you take the vacation. If they're going to fire you, it had nothing to do with the vacation.

I would take the vacation . You may get laid off anyway and at least you used your time . They won’t lay you off while you’re on vacation .

like

Take the vacation! They may still lay off on vacation. I hate to say it but if the company is Branch, count on being laid off . They have laid people off while they were on vacation and more than one while they were on maternity leave .
But for sure , take the vacation, one thing you cannot get back, is time .

like

Take the vacation. You are either going to be laid off, or you aren't. A previously scheduled and approved vacation is going to have zero affect on your future with the company.

like

Take the vacation. If you meet it through the round of lay offs you are about to get hit with twice the amount of work.

like

Take the vacation. Do not live in fear

like

The only reason I would consider it is working the 10 days if I was going to get that additional 10 days pay when they laid me off. Some companies don't pay your accrued vacation when they lay you off though so I would take the vacation.

like

It differs by state

like

Take any non pto days you can. Personal, volunteer whatever you can squeeze. Layoffs typical payout unused pto. Take time off. But be creative

like

TAKE THE VACA! I would guess the plans are set at this point, they won‘t be changing them whether you are or aren’t on vacation.

no don't cancel..enjoy your vacation! it may be the last one you get for a few years...while on vacation apply for new jobs as you will have te time Bon Voyage!!

Take vacation!!!! If they are going to lay you off that won’t matter.

like

Take it. They've already made their decisions at this point if youre starting to hear talk about it. And besides - do you want to work for a company who will get rid of people who take their due time off?

like

What’s the company ?

PS if cOMPANY HAS SICKDAYS OR floating holidays you need to have them deduct these 1st I think...find out from payroll or hr dept,,coz if the fire you i thinkthey pay vacation time but noy sicktime...check with hr though before you file your timeoff...a good manager will tell you proper way to file to maximize your pay

Take the vacation. I'm sure they already have their list if people getting the ax.

During your vacation you can also quietly explore other job opportunities.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how pissed would you be if you were a supervisor and you had a new direct report on your team with a higher salary than you? The years of experience are the same, but you have 3 designations (they have 0), you have 3 licenses (they have just 2), they have little to no experience with technical complex claims (you have hundreds), and you have 3 years in management (they have 0).
