Anyone who has recently resigned from ibm? When you initiare a separation process from workday, it goes to manager for approval. I asked HR and there is a due date mentioned on that process. Does that mean that if manager does not approve before the due date, my resignation is declined? What is the impact and what is meant by that due date? IBM

Could be! Depends on lifestyle you want to live.
What are the benefits of the new company? (Holidays, retirement, PTO, additional discounts, etc.)
Take that into consideration and not just overall salary
Yeah sounds like a great gig tbh!

Serious question - do you like gambling? Las Vegas is great if you dont gamble. Or drink. Or chase women. If you have an addictive personality, Las Vegas is a giant bowl of temptation.
Depends entirely on the gig and company you’re with. Lived in Vegas for 20 years and it’s a one industry town at best. No matter what anyone else says there about tech or startups, the real money is in the service industry and nothing’s going to change that. Be honest about your vices and temptations because it’s real easy to give into them there, and no one will stop you from indulging them…you’re literally paying their bills by doing it. If you’ve got a good head on your shoulders and the opportunity is legit, then why not.
No joke - is Vegas sustainable environmentally right now? Lake Mead is evaporating, the Colorado River isnt doing so hot (and water right wars for all of the states that rely on it are likely to flare up in the next decade). Any major city in a desert right now would give me serious pause given how quickly climate change issues coming up

I’ll add that I believe that great migration has already begun and will hit fever pitch when LA and Vegas run out of water and the southeast sees summer temps north of 120. I’ve learned it will occur in the relatively short future
Summerlin I hear is great.
You save roughly ~9% on taxes, assume you make 100k now thats 9k.
Housing is much cheaper, I’d guess maybe 500 - 1000 a month cheaper but things may have changed since I looked. That’s 6 to 12k right there. All together you’ll save more than you lose on wages, or at least break even.
With that said.. Las Vegas is notorious for house burglaries, bad schools (outside of summerlin), and hot weather.
If the actual math shakes out that it’s more than a few thousand, then it might be worth it. If it’s just a few thousand, then I think California is just a much better place to live imo.
Definitely correct about the school system, if you can afford private it’s the way to go unfortunately. Cost of living is still better than SF for sure, but from what I’m hearing from friends and family still there, it’s not too far away from LA at this point. If you can make the math work significantly in your favor though, it’s worth it to go.

Great pool parties.

I'd factor in your costs that might increase. My friends who lived there spent a lot of weekends back visiting their friends elsewhere.
