This captures exactly how I feel to the core. Perfect article!

I'm not so sure about this. It seems like clickbait. I can see people saying they'd rather be individual contributors rather than managers, but most people feel that way when they're young and starting out.

like

This is a very true statement. This was exactly how I was when starting out in my career.

I have a manager who I swear sleeps in our building. She has two kids and a husband and she works literally every single day from like ten am to midnight and she comes in every single weekend. I admire her drive and her work ethic but I also don't want that kind of life. I want to spend time with the people who matter.

This kind of behavior truly makes me sad to see. I get the fulfillment and accomplishment at work, especially for driven individuals, but giving so much to a company that will drop them as soon as it’s convenient is crazy to me.

It’s funny, when I first entered the workforce I said no way I ever want to become manager or director, or partner. Then I hit a stage where a senior leadership position was all I wanted… now there are days again where I’m really questioning whether it’s worth it to commit your life to that.

What title for this job description?
I want to switch roles from a creative director who oversees all aspects of the company’s creative (marketing campaigns and brand building mostly; also production, performance marketing ads, product design, managing design team) to focusing 100% on building our brand, educating both customers and employees about our value prop. I hate managing people or logistics and scheduling. What would this role be called? Do you see it as demotion from CD?

I'm starting to look around for something impactful and could use some help. Amazon's remote roles are pretty limited. I have a heavy background with cloud, AI/ML and data. Looking to be involved with using my skills to move the needle on something interesting and engaging but not wanting to work grueling hours. Higher pay has usually driven my career moves.

Netflix, Stripe and Slack seem appealing. But honestly, mainly because of the pay and prestige.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Hi peeps!
Got two offers on the table, who love to hear your advice!

- Finance Business Partner for a late stage (Series D/valuation 3B) startup tech company

- Corp Dev analyst role for a listed niche gambling company

The tech job pays 15k more, but from what I can see will be a cluster and super long hours (has EU stakeholders). Maybe a pipe dream, but I want to have a "somewhat" decent wlb while still growing my career toward strategy and finance.

Thoughts on which one is better?

Help me with my struggle!

I'm in Oklahoma, and an avid Aldi shopper. Prior to COVID, my favorite merlot was routinely stocked there - under $6 a bottle and better than many $30 bottles I've had. It was by Burlwood Cellars. Sadly, supply chain issues have apparently done a number on Aldi's wine selection and it's not carried there anymore. I've searched high and low for a comparable merlot, but to no avail. So I need alternate suggestions or better still, somewhere I can buy my old fav.
