This is going to sound crazy - has anyone ever encounter another person showing up for the job on day one? 😕 I really don’t think this is the guy we interviewed on Zoom (for an IT position).
I’ve kept it to myself so far. We are now on day three. Don’t know what I should do.

Would the theory be that someone more competent interviewed on their behalf? That’s a bold move lol

Yup, interview fraud happens often from what HR told me

To be honest OP, I don’t understand the trouble with whether to report or not? I really don’t.

I’m definitely afraid of being called racist - 😕but someone commented on here that Deloitte records the interviews, so I’m researching that first.

Is it Jeffrey Epstein? (It could be someone like him- please fire the guy- who knows what kind of person this could be?!?)

The ol' bait & switch routine!

Serially though, you should tell your manager and they should ask the new guy some if the same questions asked in the interview

Lots of fake resumes being submitted with certifications and experience that people when confronted admit they don’t have. Put them on an engagement and they have no idea what they are doing.

Please report it. You have been clear in your comments that the person doesn’t appear to be the same individual based on not only physical appearance but also communication style. Please report your concerns to the ethics line. There is absolutely no harm in having it looked at confidentially.

Employment fraud. But mad respect to that guy. Stick it to the man, anyway you can.

Any update, OP?

like

Yea, I decided not to say anything. 😕

Turns out my SO did something a somewhat similar. When she graduated (2009) and couldn’t land a job she faked a couple of years of experience on her resume (her brother owned that business but she never actually worked there) and got the job by pretending to be an experienced resource. 12 years later she is doing very well and still working for that company that hired her on fake resume. Unethical and super risky yes but worked out for her.

This isnt the same thing as having someone interview in your place.

like

You should ask them a question about something they said in their interview. Or make something up like “you mentioned you have two kids - how are they?” And see if they run with it

Did any senior managers interview him?

I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
