This is just weird. (Layoffs a week or so ago)

Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

Agreed. Well said. Don’t celebrate the bad stuff. Be better than rolling with the punches. Keep hoping for progress. Find a better way. Help those doing it wrong learn what’s right. Balance pragmatism with dreaming big. Don’t point out a problem - like I did in my initial post - without offering a solution.

True. I wouldn’t say usually. If revenue shrinks, it’s up to the agency to make whatever cuts are necessary to help the agency survive. Often, that means eyeing the high salaried and underperforming first.
Really curious about what the fuck is happening over there. I had such high hopes. I think they just keep losing pitches. Jaimie and Dan seem awesome but Lisa doesn’t have a lot of fans.

Starting a company is tough. Agree the HR post is tasteless/funny/weird. (Which was the point of your post.)
But what do you do - serious question - when you lose business and you have high salaries and low performers to maintain? Low performers kill young companies. I’ve been on the startup side and successful CEO advice is ruthless: “Hire slow and fire fast. You better love/respect every single person on the team or your startup will die.” Being a CEO is tough. You have no life and you need to make tough decisions all the time. And firing people is a horrible experience for every party involved.

Yeah totally it’s not cool. It just seems like a public display of what’s really going on. Or they won new biz in the mean time. One can only assume!
You guys are being pretty hard on them. Opening and building a new agency while trying to do great work is hard. The brutally honest truth is probably that their layoffs were people that weren’t cutting it. At a huge agency, you can deal with that. Here, it probably kills them.
I’m totally guessing, I don’t work there. But I respect what they’re doing and know it’s hard to build.
It’s honestly so weird to me that creatives and people with director title are willing to say “oh that’s just how it is” or “you’re in for a rude awakening...” do you hear yourself? Do you react that way to client feedback? Do you react that way to getting your food wrong at a restaurant?
Not a single person in here is arguing people getting laid off for good reason is bad or wrong or a surprise. We’re talking about a company that is hiring (through social media) right after they fired and it looks bad.
Maybe a really deserving person who wants to be there has an opportunity now that they cleared the books of someone with less talent and a bad attitude.
ACD3. I told you I was sorry, stop being petty. I'm sure you'd love me irl btw. I'm far from jaded. I'd work on almost anything (even Facebook) no such thing as a best brief. I'm kinda glad we don't have ACDs at my agency myself ☺️
