No way better than Duke, not even close
Goizueta alum - I’d generally agree with C1 but it also depends a bit on your goals. For example, if you absolutely want to end up at MBB Fuqua gives you a better shot. I’d guess they hire 40-50 people from Fuqua every year vs. ~10ish from Goizueta. That said, I’d you go to Goizueta you’ll probably be fine since basically everyone recruits there and it has a strong consulting pipeline (>50% of the class).
TLDR; Fuqua gives you more upside so I’d only pick Goizueta over it if there were other factors ($$$, location, culture, etc.) that made it more compelling.
Agree on the percents but I think critical mass is important when it comes to recruiting too. These firms go to Fuqua every year (probably) planning to hire 10+ interns meaning they’ll interview 40+ people so you’ll have a decent chance of getting into the funnel if you’re interested and have a good profile. At Goizueta each MBB will interview about 10 people, so your chance of even getting into the funnel (IMO) is a bit lower and a bit more luck dependent.
Really enjoyed my time at Goizueta and my decision process sounds pretty similar to yours. I wouldn’t say going there maximizes your odds at MBB right out of business school though.
In the T30/T25 range, location matters a lot. If you’re planning to stay in Atlanta / the south for your entire career then it may very well be equal to Duke
Goizueta is the better school for learning. 5 to 1 faculty to student ratio, 57% of class went into consulting with a median base of 170K. Less competition than duke when it comes to interviews and all the desired connections if Atlanta is long term for you.
All this being said, Duke is the stronger brand.
Also look at Emory’s employment report. They are majorly up and coming.
I think Duke might be a better program overall, but you’ll most likely be fine at both. Duke is in the Research Triangle, they have some tech positions, not nearly as. impactful for Strat Consulting. Atlanta has everything from Home Depot to Delta and Google.
I think if you’re purely looking at rankings, Fuqua (Duke) is better. But I’d visit before applying, I personally find Duke’s campus and area to be not to my liking. But it’s a great program.
Never heard of G. Brand recognition is important when going for consulting jobs.
Is ranking everything in consulting?
As a Duke alum. Fuqua > Goizueta
