I think people on here will tell you to stick it out for 2 but honestly if you know it's not a fit and can find another job who cares. Find something that makes you happy.
Health and sanity first my friend. If it's taking such a toll on you it's probably time.
Don't listen to P1. It seriously just might be your situation. There are crappy teams, managers, and partners. There are also decent teams, managers, and partners but in a crappy or stressful time period/situation.
I have an autoimmune disease that flares up on lack of sleep/stress which are two relatively constant things in consulting. I can't stress enough - keep your mentors and team leaders in the know about health issues. I have done this, and have received tremendous support. But if you're a year in and are not able to shake things up, I highly suggest you make a move. Your health ALWAYS comes first. You can come back to your firm when things are a little more stable. And if you want to exercise the option, you might be eligible to take disability leave, at least short term. Take advantage of these things, they are in place for a reason. Good luck, OP.
Try to get on a different project if you can - it really just might be your group. Consulting is very hit or miss...it's not always you!
Thanks D1. Also would love to hear from 🐠 who also have autoimmune diseases
Man, all of this talk of insane hours has me a little freaked out! 😕 Is there anyone on here, who would say year in and year out it just sucks and you have no life, or what's your take on it? Do certain practice areas have better hours? I like actually working out and sleeping 6-7 hours a day.
OP - drop a burner and let's talk. I have an autoimmune disease and also went through a difficult pregnancy in my first year at the firm.
PwC 1 deserves to be where he/she is. Interpret that as you will.
@EY2 Thank you. I tell them at he beginning but I don't think I'm vocal enough throughout the case
Consider short term disability, OP. It'll give you some time to refresh and focus on recovery/symptom management
Low sleep and high stress should be the exception, not the norm. Definitely make sure your leaders are aware of the situation and that it's unsustainable. That's advice I would give to everybody. Based on their response, you can tell if it will be worth staying in for another year.
Now, as for your health condition, you should also make sure your leaders and HR are aware. You don't need to tell everybody in the world, but just your mentor or somebody you trust.
Also be sure to focus on a healthy diet. Extremely challenging, I know.
Not exactly the same thing but is it possible to take short term time off like a month or two even unpaid for mental health. Not just the job and hours but a lot of life stuff too all at once and kinda want to get my Shit together before I completely lose it
What firm OP?

Welcome to consulting. Opt out if the grind is not for you. It is a high high and low low career. It is not for everyone.
