Thoughts on Surgent review course? How does it compare to Becker or Ninja?

Becker has a more step by step approach. With “mini quizzes”. I don’t like Surgent Lisa kolar was the only person who lectured well now they have this new person that just reads off the slides. they will have 5 8-15 mins video lectures instead of 45 mins videos which isn’t terrible if they allowed continuous play but gets annoying To continue going back to the next video. Where as Becker says next video(streamline). Ninja isn’t terrible but as awful as this sounds the guy who gives the lectures is smart but can be hard to understand sometimes. They also have really good explanations on wrong answers. Becker offers a free trial for two weeks ninja you can pay for a month to try it out. I think Surgent might have one as well because it really is based on your study habits like I don’t think Surgent is terrible for the price if you are one of the people who just does well understanding with mcqs and sims. I have Surgent but I’m a visual learner so I have to supplement with universal CPA. And farhat lectures are helpful too. I wish I had Becker though because I tried the trial and that is the kind of program I needed they give you a study timely and you can see step by step on what needs to be done.

They do have a free trial but if I recall they only give you like the first part of a section so it was basics.

I haven’t gotten their package yet-They have videos on YouTube and a Facebook group I listened to their audit videos on YouTube and felt like they helped me understand the processes way better than my Surgent material and supplemented the lectures enough I didn’t really need to get another program. But they don’t have all topics on youtube.

they have a program called “spilled milk” they discount the costs if you started somewhere else such as Becker.

General corporate in NY looking to lateral into tech transactions at one of the EC/VC firms. I’ve heard that I may get a class cut if I make the move but I’m ok with that. My worry is that EC/VC firms are crazy busy work differently from general corp, I also won’t have control over my hours, and potentially worse based on how billing differs (block billing on a few clients vs having to work with 15 or more startups). Is the same true for tech trans or IP group?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
