My fiancé and I both have the CSR card and Freedom Unlimited combo and love them. We are thinking of adding another card and we were considering the Amex Platinum (to diversity transfer partners) or likely a United card for lounge access since we live in Chicago.

Does anyone else have both CSR and Amex Platinum? Would you recommend?

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). Working at a boutique transactiona firm. First year did not receive much guidance and made a few errors, one of which could have been a deal but ended up being fine but overall I worked hard, billed hours above target and showed a willingness to learn.
