I kind of agree. But also, there are a lot of just actually untalented people out there.
It’s a bit of both. I’ll take time looking at a portfolio if they can also catch my eye quickly.
No question about how a great portfolio will keep you in it longer. But you hire potential and in a lot of cases people don’t have the opportunity to do famous big flashy projects so, look deep and find potential.

Hey, whatever works for you, internet friends. ❤️
I understand to a degree, but there's a more diplomatic way to approach it.
No one has to look through the entire portfolio. But that’s also the reason why you should start with your best work.
Totally agree, working on the order makes a lot of difference. I just disagree when people simply say: show less, just your outstanding work. On the other side there are creatives not sure what will get the viewers attention. It adds anxiety on a lot of creatives that haven’t had the great famous work done yet. I say put all you think it’s worthy. If the CD is not patient to go through it all, just removing stuff won’t help you.

There’s truth to it, though. I’ve seen lots of portfolio sites that have 20-30 projects. Whittle it down.
Yup! I agree.
I've listened to thousands of cues over a period of 17 years. I don't need to hear the whole thing to see that it doesn't work for my spot. Same goes for portfolios.
