Me too. Fuck tax
International Tax (:
But then don't you limit yourself when you want to leave the firm?
No, quite the opposite, at least with FAAS you get a broader skill set and there's a constant need for technical accounting. It'd be easier to move into either a financial analyst role and eventually into a controller/CFO/CEO position. I feel like a tax skill set alone is more limiting in that you can only hope to be a tax director one day.
I suggest looking into the more specialized groups within EY (i.e. TAAG, FAAS, CCaSS,TAS, TT) before looking externally. I just recently switched from tax to FAAS and am really happy with my new group. Better work-life balance and more consulting work. Not sure what you're looking for though...
How did you make that move, EY 2?
Audit
I leveraged my TARAS experiences as a means of getting into FAAS. I also took time to meet individuals from that group to get a good understanding of what it is that they do and what the work-life balance is like.
