Can you quantify the worth/ value, PwC1?
Yes and I loved it. I recently crossed the $250k threshold, so I now have a dedicated advisor. It’s a bit more expensive, but it has been very worth it for me.
What does the advisor do? Push you into a set of mutual funds? Stock pick?
Gives tax strategies, helps with estate planning, set up 529 plans for kids, someone I trust to constantly bounce ideas off off. We talk about funds and asset allocation, but he was upfront that I could stay with Edge if all I cared about was investing in the stock market. He didn’t try to sell to me that he could consistently beat the market (and I’d be weary of anyone who does), but I can say I’ve saved thousands already based on the advice he’s given me, so for that reason the fees are worth it. I also know him personally and trust him, which was huge for me.
If you are just starting out, it might not be necessary for you. For someone who has a slightly more complex financial situation, it has been invaluable and gives me peace of mind that I’m not wasting my time and acting on incorrect advice from some random blog of someone trying to sell something. In some situations it’s best to leave it to the pros.
What's their fee structure? Would be great if you can share.
EY2, your fee will depend on how much you have invested (the more invested, the lower the fees, so the % will decrease over time).
